Whenever I’m on my computer and need a break from writing or reading celebrity gossip, I shop. Lately, my tried and true sites are getting some competition from a crop of fashion-forward newbies shaping the next generation of online shopping. Which of my new faves will be part of your future?
If you like Polyvore, try Boutine.
The only thing that could make creating outfits online more fun, is getting paid for it. Enter Boutine. You style and share looks using fashions from the best emerging designers and if someone purchases something from your creation on Boutine, you get a 10% commission!
If you like Shopstyle, try Shopper Seeks.
I live by Shopstyle’s fashion and accessories search engine, but sometimes I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for. When that happens, I can click over to Shopper Seeks, create a post and have a community of fashion-philes search where to get what I want. When it’s found, pay it forward and seek on behalf of others.
If you like shopping local, try Boutiika.
The Web can never best the hands-on thrill of finding something you love in-store. Boutiika knows this and helps you get in the right store. Browse the wares of the chic-est local boutiques on your computer and strategize your retail assault before leaving the house. You can search by boutique, or category and some retailers will even let you reserve an item online so it’s waiting when you arrive.
If you like prowling consignment shops, try Twice and Threadflip.
Last week, I told you about Twice and their select selection of the best ready-to-wear and designer brands like J.Crew, Theory and DVF at 70-90% off. Not only are they a great place to buy, they make selling your gently-used clothes super easy! Tell Twice what you want to sell, they send you a pre-paid shipping label and, after reviewing the items, make you an offer. You get paid up-front and Twice photographs and sells the items. Whatever they don’t buy, Twice donates to Goodwill on your behalf. Simple!
BONUS: Through Oct. 31, take 10% off of your Twice order using code FAWKESHUNTER10!
Threadflip is similar, only you upload images and sell clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelry straight from your closet. Anyone can post items for sale, but Threadflip also actively seeks out the closets of some of the most stylish girls around, which means you can shop one-of-a kind finds from some uh-maze-ing collections. Threadflip also offers a special white glove concierge service, which allows users to send in their wares and have Threadflip takes care of the rest.
