Posing with Jennifer in the SFH Style Lounge.

In addition to styling as Fawkeshunter, I’m excited to report that I’ve also been accepted as part of Style for Hire, a nationwide community of fashion stylists hand-picked by Stacy London. Not only will I get to call some of the most talented stylists across the country my colleagues, but I get to share my style savvy in new ways.

Last weekend I worked with super-chic SFH stylist Jennifer Rosson of Style Your Life at the Westfield Style Lounge in Arcadia. I was wowed by how many chic and affordable mall finds from stores like Gap, Talbots and New York & Co. we pulled for our free styling sessions with shoppers and had to share them.

Which trend are you most excited to wear?

Colorful Character

As I kept telling shoppers, forget the usual muted fall colors. This year the pop of color trend that was so huge this summer hangs on through fall with jewel tones and primary colors. Pair them with each other, animal prints and houndstooth to look on-trend.

Colorful Character
A bright Gap dress and slippers pair with a houndstooth cape by Talbots in this look we created. All accessories are Charming Charlie. I’m crushing on the collar necklace in particular as a great piece to make any crew neck look fresh.

What to Look for in the Shops

  • Jewel-tone colors like mustard, amethyst, cobalt and emerald.
  • Clean, modern mod-inspired shapes.
  • Graphic prints like stripes, animal prints and houndstooth.
  • Accessories with personality- collar necklaces, a graphic clutch, statement shoes.

Lady of the Manor

Maybe it’s the Kate effect, maybe it’s all the talk of riding crops in 50 Shades of Grey, but the Town & Country lifestyle definitely asserts itself in fall fashion. The trend will bend to suit your personality—wear it like a blueblood or a naughty librarian.

Manor Dress
An uber-versatile Gap Academy Blazer pairs with an Ever New scarf-print silk dress and Papaya riding boot. Chain necklace is from Talbots.
Manor Pant
Papaya riding pants, studded-collar New York & Co. blouse (love!) and a Talbots horse-bit detail blazer look sharp with Papaya Riding boots and a Charming Charlie handbag.

What to Look for in the Shops

  • Silky scarf prints- a shirt, dress or a scarf, depending on how bold you are.
  • Equestrian details- horsebits, chain patterns and riding-inspired coats and pants.
  • Riding boots- Knee high? Go flat for everyday and heeled for evening. Ankle boot? I like lace-ups with a slight heel.
  • Classic accessories- pearls, gold chains and structured bags in classic shapes.

Rock Royalty

Even the hottest rockstars get cold in fall/winter. And what do they wear? (Faux!) fur & leather. A great way to layer and wear your summery boho dresses into the new season, this trend is about excess and rich details. The more over-the-top, the better!

Rock Royalty
An Ever New silk dress and faux fur coat are complemented by Papaya cowboy-style boots. Necklaces and faux-croc bag are Charming Charlie. Bracelets are Papaya.

What to Look for in the Shops

  • Faux Fur- Go all out in a vest or a jacket, or look for a collar if you want to be more subtle.
  • Leather- Swap a motorcycle jacket for a blazer. Choose a sophisticated gray or camel to help this look go furthest in your warbrobe. Leggings look sleek and chic and you can find them at all pricepoints.
  • Boots- Motorcycle and western inspired looks are key in this trend.
  • Bold accessories- Don’t be afraid to stand out. Mix metals/materials and aim to layer textures.

Rachel, your website is beautiful and the information is so helpful. Although I already have several items in muted fall colors, I now know how to bring them to life with some jewel-toned or graphic print scarves. Great fashion advice!
