One month post-nuptials and I still find myself coming up for air. Even though I may not have been at the keyboard, I have had enough screen-time to develop a major new style crush: Rooney Mara.
I loved Steig Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy and have been anxious to see how the pretty girl whose rebuff Mark Zuckerberg is the catalyst for Facebook in The Social Network would transform into computer-hacking, ass-kicking Lisbeth Salander. The answer it turns out was to chop off her hair, dye it black, dye her eyebrows blonde and take on nipple and eyebrow piercing, and that was before hitting the make-up chair and wardrobe!
I love the way that she went for it when getting into character and I am now especially obsessed with the way that Lisbeth’s edge is evident in Rooney’s wardrobe. Her choices are so feminine, yet the cutouts and architectural details make them uber-modern, almost futuristic. Combined with her stark, dark hair and simple make up, she looks at-once dangerous and delicate, and certainly like no one else walking the red carpet.
Here’s some of my favorite of Rooney’s red carpet looks. Are you loving her as much as I am?
